My First Mother's Day...

We had a picnic up Provo Canyon for Mothers Day. I had to take Alex to the car twice for feeding and changing and such. I sure was a mother...

I wanted Alejandro to get in the water abit. It was pretty cold and he was looking at me funny...
He's just so cute!

I call this his Moses picture. He's laying in some tall grass next to the water and it makes me think about Moses in the reeds.

Alejandro's First Vacation- Off to Tahoe

Edy and I were really excited to have some time with just our little family. It was a little cold, but it was really pretty. This part of Lake Tahoe is called Emerald Bay. When the sun is shinning on it it's really spectacular.

Since it was a little chilly in Tahoe so we bundled Alex up. Here you see him fashioning Meghann's hat. A perfect fit!

This is Alex's first fishing trip. Yeah, he was asleep the whole time. But he sure is cute!

Uncle Fernando, Aunt Erika, and cousin Gustavo all came to meet up with us. It was so fun seeing Alejandro and Gustavo together. And Alex was even wearing some of Gustavo's old clothes.
Alex is sleeping during this picture. This is during our little barbeque picnic.

Here was our attempt to get some good pictures of little Alejandro in front of the lake. The sun was so bright he wouldnt' open his eyes out of the shade.

We want Alex to experience all he can as early as possible, so at three weeks Alex had his first ride down a slide.

Meeting the Family

I am so grateful for Meghann. She was in the delivery room with me while Edy was off with Alex in the nursery. I was so exhausted and effected by the experience that I couldn't really hardly even think and Meghann stayed there right with me, holding my hand or my leg and comforting me until I could go off and see my BEAUTIFUL baby for the first time.

Uncle Patrick is an unsung hero in the story. He rushed to the hospital along with Meghann and patiently (and bravely) waited in the hall until Alejandro came into the world, and then ran back and forth between the nursery and my recovery room to deliver reports. Then, he was totally on the ball and took a beautiful video of my first time holding Alejandro. He proceeded to patiently put up with his home being full for the next couple of weeks. We all love Uncle Patrick!

Bela Jo arrived before Alejandro had even turned one day old. She was a really good sport about Alex jumping the gun and comming before she finished her trip. (She was on the road already when he came.)

Uncle Joel is a FABULOUS uncle! One day he came over and took care of Alejandro for a couple hours just so I could get some sleep! I was so impressed. Alex loves Uncle Joel.

Abuela and Abuelo Cabrales arrived only a few days after the birth. They came bearing lots of goodies for their seventh grandchild. Bela Jo mentioned how nice it was that they were so excited about Alejandro even with six other grandkids. And from what I hear, Daniela is very happy that she is still the only granddaughter. She's still the princess.

Aunt Kaity got there a week later. We were so excited that she came. Originally she wasn't going to be able to, but last minute she got a ticket! In this picture it looks like Alex is giving her a hug while he's sleeping on her belly.

Uncle Jared and Auntie Matisse came in about the same time as Aunt Kaity. I don't have a picture of Aunt Matisse with Alex on my camera (someone needs to send me one). This is when Uncle Jared miraculously kept Alejandro content for a long time during Patrick's graduation even though he was really fussy. You can tell Alex is having fun.
In the background you can see Pops and pseudo G-pa Kevin. (the only picture I have on my camera of Dad too).

Yay for the Newcomer!

Here is the little Prince of the Cabrales family. It's fun looking at his little new face. Daddy is so good with Alejandro.

He even slept in the hospital on this not-so-comfortable pullout love seat so he could be with us the whole time.

I LOVE his litte wrinkly face!
This is Roberta on the left. She is the woman who held me together during the deliverty (my midwife). She is amazing. The girl on the right was my nurse the majority of my time in the hospital. She was great.

And here's the happy family the day we left the hospital. I can't believe how teeny Alejandro is! He's already so much bigger!
